Imagine The Sound
Beanbag Cinema, 6pm
This Canadian documentary is an examination of the once controversial free jazz movement of the 1960s through interviews and performances from musicians who helped forge it. Filmed in Toronto in the early 1980s, musicians look back on the previous decades of their careers and reflect on the philosophy of the genre, describing a world without practice or rehearsals with a “distain for the known.” Featuring Paul Bley, Bill Dixon, Archie Shepp and Cecil Taylor.
